The Connection Points™ Coaching Program

A 30-hour program designed to support managers as they learn to utilize a “coaching” approach or mindset. This approach can serve to inspire and develop all members of their team as well, leading to an environment where team members feel included and are encouraged to be more self-sufficient, thus increasing their sense of autonomy and mastery.

  • 30-hours in length – may be delivered over six-10 months.
  • Each cohort accommodates up to 25 participants.
  • Five learning modules, each six hours in duration.
  • Exercises and skill-building approaches designed for adult learners to reinforce new approaches and to build new habits.

Good leaders develop ideas. Great leaders develop people. The best leaders develop new leaders.

The Connection Points Modules

Connection Point One: Align

The purpose of this module is to create a sense of alignment between the team and the successful implementation of the organization’s vision by creating a defined outcome or, ‘desired result’. This result will clearly describe the kind of environment required to support that vision. Team members will explore the expectations, assumptions, interpretations and beliefs that are supporting them (as well as potentially hindering them) from achieving their desired result.

TLS will facilitate the team through a Team Results Roadmap™ experience over the course of one, 6-hour or two, 3-hour sessions. The experience is based on the ‘Results System’ model of human behavior and high performance.

In this module participants will:

  • Develop and align around a common values-based result that will lead to the successful implementation of the organization’s vision
  • Explore expectations, assumptions, interpretations and beliefs that may support (or hinder) progress toward the desired result
  • Establish clearly identified goals and a sustainable action plan to support the result, including addressing ways to effectively communicate among themselves and with their respective teams
Connection Point Two: Reflect

The purpose of this module is to educate participants about the role that brain chemistry (neuroscience) and stress reactions (fight-flight-freeze response) play in how human beings are naturally predisposed to be critical and judgmental. This chemistry has a huge impact on personal and professional development as it creates barriers to effective self-awareness, self-responsibility and accountability. It also may negatively affect a person’s ability to include other people’s thoughts, feelings and perspectives.

In this module participants will:

  • Identify and examine the role of core values and needs in human performance
  • Learn strategies to build curiosity, objectivity and nonjudgement (open-mindedness)
  • Recognize stress reactions that may create barriers and practice skills (including some mindfulness techniques) to improve awareness and allow for a more inclusive environment
  • Practice skills, including mindfulness techniques, to improve awareness
  • Seek to understand, accept and appreciate others
Connection Point Three: Communicate

The purpose of this module is to establish the importance of conscious communication in creating an inclusive, positive and highly effective culture. Participants will be given specific tools that can be utilized in their current roles to reinforce all concepts delivered.

In this module participants will:

  • Strengthen conscious communication skills through identifying the role body language and intentional messaging plays in communication
  • Utilize active listening approaches in order to establish and strengthen understanding and rapport
  • Develop ‘coach-like’ skills which include knowing how to ask acknowledging, clarifying and validating questions
  • Practice giving and receiving constructive feedback
Connection Point Four: Deepen

The purpose of this module is to take a ‘deeper-dive’ into the skills learned in Module 3, including an emphasis on the role of Emotional Intelligence in driving a values-based, inclusive culture. Focus will be placed on the role that qualities such as trust, respect, authenticity, vulnerability, and empathy can have in building an effective team.

In this module participants will:

  • Learn the model of Emotional Intelligence and the importance of recognizing, regulating and responding to emotions
  • Practice self-reflection, deepen their intrapersonal and interpersonal awareness and the impact that emotions have on building safety, respect and trust between people
  • Practice the tools and approaches that have been provided to this point in the program
Connection Point Five: Integrate

The purpose of this module is to revisit the desired organizational result while integrating information provided in all prior modules. Discussion will center on how the team culture / climate has shifted. Challenges will be discussed and successes will be celebrated.

In this module participants will:

  • Revisit the desired result (established in CP One) and integrate information provided in all prior modules
  • Bring forward ‘case studies’, sharing examples of how skills and ‘coach-like’ approaches have been utilized
  • Focus on situations where participants may have felt less effective and engage the group in options for moving forward
