The TLS Learning Academy™ is Live!
Aligning leaders and teams within higher education for greater effectiveness.

Higher Education

When TLS is asked to engage with leaders and/or teams within colleges and universities, the request usually centers around a few key areas of focus:

  • Desire to support newer leaders who may have had little formal Leadership Development education
  • The need to create a supportive learning environment that includes tailored training specific to the organization or institution’s needs
  • Opportunity for practical application of new skills and strategies
  • Training sessions that emphasize connection and a shared experience for staff and leaders alike

We recognize there are important nuances to the staff and leadership development needs you may be experiencing within your organization.  We recommend focusing on two specific areas when considering your needs:

  1. Awareness Building:  What is the actual challenge you are experiencing?  What is the basis for this challenge?  Specifically, how is the challenge affecting your (or your team’s) ability to be successful?
  2. Intention Setting:  If things were working more smoothly, what – specifically – would be different?  What specific plan(s) might be implemented to address your most critical staff and leadership development needs?

If you are experiencing the need for additional staff and leadership development for your team, we would love to connect with you and explore how TLS might offer important support to key staff and/or teams within your organization.

CASE STUDY

Leaders within the Human Resources department of a large state university recognized there was ‘pent up demand’ for meaningful leadership development among leaders within all departments on campus.  Prior years had seen significant staffing and budgetary changes, creating ongoing stress and challenge for leaders at all levels of the university.

Through our leadership program, the Leadership Forum, TLS was able to a deliver a program focused on key principles of leadership as well as key priorities of the university.  The program provided an opportunity for participants to connect and support each other in meaningful ways.  The program also included concrete skills, strategies, and approaches that were designed to be immediately applicable.  The program was so well received that several additional cohorts were scheduled to ensure that leaders had access to this highly engaging program.

Building trust and better communication

Most valuable takeaway was the sharing of experiences, networking, and techniques to help navigate building trust and better communication.

Most valuable takeaways...

The most valuable takeaways for me were the topics regarding communication skills/constructive feedback, managing conflict and building trust.

Empowering!

This was empowering and great to collaborate with so many other managers/leaders. I was given many ideas that I can apply in my role as a manager.

Not alone

I feel so much better knowing I’m not alone in my struggles.
