The ‘Real’ Truth About Self-Care (Part One)
Are you feeling like ‘self-care’ just isn’t enough? Are you missing the CARE in self-care? If so, you aren’t alone! Today we kick-off a four-part series on this important topic…
[Alicia Davis] Are you feeling like self-care just isn’t enough?
[Stacie Watson] Or maybe you’re missing the care in self-care?
[Alicia Davis] So I’m Alicia Davis.
[Stacie Watson] And I’m Stacie Watson.
[Alicia Davis] And we are the co-founders of Transformative Leadership Strategies, a coaching, training, and team-building company, and well-being matters to us, and it matters to our clients. And yet this topic about self-care, it’s really tricky, isn’t it Stacie?
[Stacie Watson] It is. I mean, I think sometimes it just feels like we’re trying to add one more thing to an already very full to-do list.
[Alicia Davis] That’s right.
[Stacie Watson] And, maybe we try to do something that seems like self-care, and we still feel all the feelings, it doesn’t seem to work. So I think it’s worth taking a little bit of a deeper dive into what does it even mean? And what does it include? Or how could we think about it differently?
[Alicia Davis] That’s right. And so we’re kicking off a four-part series about the ‘real’ truth about self-care. And we really want to start with mindset, because shifting our mindsets about what is really self-care to me, because it’s going to be different for me today versus tomorrow versus next week than it is for you.
[Stacie Watson] That’s right. Absolutely. Yes, so we’re going to touch on boundaries. We’re going to touch on guilt, which I think may resonate for many of us. I know, it certainly resonates for me. And then to talk about what self-compassion really means and how that might be the same as or maybe slightly different than the way we think about self-care.
[Alicia Davis] That’s right. So we would invite you to really consider what’s your relationship to self-care. Is it kind of a love/hate relationship? And do you feel like you’re having enough of it? Or does it feel really as if you are feeling recharged from your self-care? If not, please tune back into our next videos to learn more.
[Stacie Watson] Absolutely.
[Alicia Davis] Thanks for listening.
[Stacie Watson] Thank you.
